Today I want to teach you a simple and useful two-word expression. And that expression is vice versa. Vice versa. That’s vice, v-i-c-e, versa, v-e-r-s-a. Vice versa.
Before I explain what this phrase means, let me give you an example sentence:
She enjoys spending time with dogs, and vice versa. She enjoys spending time with dogs, and vice versa.
What does vice versa mean? Vice versa means “and the opposite is also true” or “and it’s also true the other way around.”
So. Let's go back to our example sentence: She enjoys spending time with dogs, and vice versa.
This means “She enjoys spending time with dogs, and it's also true the other way around, or and the opposite is also true.” So, she enjoys spending time with dogs, and dogs enjoy spending time with her. That's what vice versa means. It means “it's also true the other way around” or “the reverse is also true.” She enjoys spending time with dogs, and vice versa means “She enjoys spending time with dogs, and it's also true the other way around: dogs enjoy spending time with her.”
Well, that is vice versa, a very useful little phrase.
